“Before I had my child, I thought I knew all the boundaries of myself, that I understood the limits of my heart. It’s extraordinary to have all those limits thrown out, to realize your love is inexhaustible.” – Uma Thurman
Photographing this family for their maternity pictures and then August's newborn pictures was an absolute joy. Their shared excitement in expectation while pregnant and then seeing how completely in love they were with August reminded me so much of my own journey as a new parent. Parenting is likely the hardest thing they will ever do--but also the most rewarding.
I loved being able to capture some small details in this session: a farmer's hands, August's tiny clubfeet, and the "nursing throne" (my name for it) of pillows on the bed. I am drawn to the relaxed tone of in-home newborn sessions and meeting new families. I have a secret desire to be a doula, and being able to love on families during this stage is something I find fulfilling.
